Staffer hoping to put a lid on health care costs

Canada has great public health care, but local hospitals still need a boost to serve the community, says Pat Roberts.

An administrative assistant in Facility Services, she has signed up for the fourth second annual Hats on for Healthcare, an initiative of Windsor Regional Hospital to promote recognition of its programs and services. On Wednesday, February 13, she will join people all across the city wearing hats of all kinds and making donations to the hospital’s foundation.

She invites her campus colleagues to join her—or even just donate a toonie.

“I will be collecting pledges from all those wonderful people that would like to support me in this worthy cause,” says Roberts.

To date, Hats on for Healthcare has raised almost $100,000 in support of Windsor Regional Hospital. In particular, the fundraiser has contributed to the Western Campus redevelopment project, which brought a specialized mental health facility, improved facilities for complex continuing care and rehabilitation, and a “beautiful healing garden” to the hospital’s grounds on Prince Road.
