Residence students to join Santa for riverfront parade

Members of the UWindsor community will spread a little holiday cheer this weekend as participants in the Santa Claus parade along the riverfront.

Residence students are creating a float reflecting this year’s parade theme, “a North Pole Fantasy,” and Lancer varsity athletes will march alongside.

Organizer Jacqueline Mellish, a residence life coordinator, hopes faculty, staff and students will turn out to enjoy the event.

“It is always amazing to see all the friendly faces along the way!” she says.

The parade kicks off at 6 p.m., Saturday, December 7, from Atkinson Park and wends its way down Riverside Drive to Brock Street for a tree-lighting ceremony outside Mackenzie Hall. The University will open its parking lots adjacent to the route—A, B, C and R—free to parade-goers.
