As the year comes to an end, the alumni office reminds staff and faculty that there is still time to make a gift that will help students—and qualify for a 2013 charitable tax receipt.
“We are seeing a lot of interest in scholarship funds, including this year’s special 50th anniversary awards,” says Mona Dosen, the development officer responsible for the employee Annual Giving campaign.
UWindsor students received more than 8,200 scholarships, awards and bursaries in the last year, she notes.
“I think people who work on campus understand the importance of helping our students,” Dosen says. “We can see the benefit of giving them opportunities to study, research and discover, and scholarship funds help them to succeed.”
She points out that faculty and staff can make contributions through payroll deduction.
“Just $5 a week will add up to $260 over the course of a year,” Dosen says. “But you barely even notice it off your pay cheque.”
The theme of this year’s Annual Giving campaign is “Branching Out: the Roots of Student Success.” Facility Services will recognize the contributions of faculty and staff by planting 50 trees on campus, beautifying the environment while providing a lasting reminder of the generosity of donors.
