Soup’s on: Community dinner to launch micro-granting project

A $5 donation will earn attendees soup, salad and a vote at a community dinner next month intended to support local projects.

Organized by the Windsor chapter of the student group Enactus, Windsor SOUP will act as a platform for the sharing of ideas and resources. The first event is scheduled for Sunday, March 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Walkerville Brewery, 525 Argyle Road.

Registrants will present their project ideas and diners will vote for the most promising. The winner will receive funding to move forward.

“Windsor SOUP aims to bring the community together through powerful, creative ideas and discussions that will help make our city a better place to live and work in,” says business student Nick Jones, tasked by Enactus Windsor with managing the project.

The poverty-fighting organization Pathway to Potential has also signed on, says director Adam Vasey.

“This partnership reflects P2P’s commitment to engaging the community to develop innovative local solutions that enhance the social and economic well-being of our region,” he says.

Details on the event, including applications to present, are available on the Pathway to Potential website.
