The Campus Bookstore has not just relocated, says Lynda Leckie—it has repositioned itself in the marketplace.
General merchandise buyer for the store, which opened in a new home on the CAW Student Centre’s lower level over the summer, she says she is committed to working more with University groups to fill their needs for gear.
“Whether it’s apparel, giftware, or branded office supplies, we can source it through the Bookstore,” she says. “This service has always been available, but I want to put more focus on that area.”
Since taking on the job last fall, Leckie has concentrated on cultivating new suppliers.
“I sought different sources to provide more competitive pricing,” she says. “Now I encourage anyone—whether a University department or student club—to come to me first for any promotional items they want to order.”
She says that because of the volume of business generated through the store, chances are she can secure a better deal for customers.
“It doesn’t matter what group you are, come to me and I will do the legwork!”
The new store carries a wider selection of UWindsor apparel, including brand names like Under Armour, Adidas and Campus Crew’s Yoga line. It also stocks lots of new items that support the Lancer identity and school pride, says Leckie, who is also an assistant coach with the varsity women’s volleyball team: “That tie to athletics is huge for me.”
