Lancers sharing Universiade experience online

Two UWindsor student athletes in Spain to representing Canada at the FISU Winter Games are publishing a blog to share their experiences with friends, fans and family.

Women’s hockey players Jenny MacKnight and Bree Polci have joined Team Canada in Granada along with their Lancer head coach Jim Hunter, who will serve as an assistant coach for the Universiade squad.

Their posts have so far documented their journey, shown the arena complex where they will play, and captured moments meeting their teammates.

“It was amazing to skate out on the ice for the first time,” the duo wrote. “We can’t tell you what a thrill it is to be representing Canada.”

The squad has already practised at Mulhacen Pavilion and will open the competition February 4 against Kazakhstan. The puck drops at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
