Food Services taking measure of interest in sushi-making class

Are there enough people who want to learn to make sushi to fill a class on the subject? A couple of members of the Food Services staff sure hope so.

Executive chef Paolo Vasapolli and catering manager Dean Kissner are planning a hands-on class that would pair Vasapolli with a sushi specialist to lead attendees through making and sampling a variety of dishes.

“Guests will get hands-on experience making their own sushi,” Vasapolli says. “Then they can enjoy their own work!”

Each attendee will eat about 30 pieces of sushi from an assortment of rolls featuring smoked salmon, crab, shrimp, squid, fresh tuna and a vegetarian recipe.

The class, tentatively scheduled for February 24, would include all materials, as well as a tasting of the rice-based alcoholic beverage sake, at a cost of $30—$25 for UWindsor students. To inquire or express interest, contact Kissner at deank@uwindsor.ca.
