Symposium to share insights on biotech enterprises

A campus symposium October 3 will encourage entrepreneurial thinking and promote networking among biotechnology students and professionals, say organizers.

The “Biotechnology Entrepreneurship” symposium is geared toward emerging professionals exploring how to commercialize their discoveries from lab bench to market, says Tranum Kaur, professor of chemistry and bio-chemistry and coordinator of the Masters of Medical Biotechnology (MMB) program. It will feature a business pitch competition which invites teams to present their ideas to a panel of judges drawn from industry and academia.

“The gap to market for biotechnology commercialization can be bridged with capital, strategic partners and a clear vision,” Dr. Kaur says. “Join us to be enriched with the roadmap from technology assessment to final product: the entire life cycle of an innovation from its inception to building a sustainable enterprise.”

Registration is $25 for students, $50 for all others. Find more information, including a program and list of speakers, on the symposium website.
