Auto ergonomics subject of Friday discussion

A UWindsor alumnus and expert on biomechanics and the ergonomics of musculoskeletal injuries will discuss his work bridging basic and applied research in a free lunchtime lecture Friday.

Jim Potvin (BHK 1986), a professor of kinesiology at McMaster University, will deliver “Adventures in Pasteur’s Quadrant: Use-Inspired Research and Automotive Ergonomics” at noon in room 144, Human Kinetics Building.

Dr. Potvin conducts applied research on developing valid ergonomic methods to quantify injury risk in the workplace; his basic research focuses on the study of joint mechanics and the effects of muscle fatigue during repetitive tasks.

He taught in the UWindsor Faculty of Human Kinetics from 1997 to 2008; this event is part of its Distinguished Speakers Series.
