Displays to raise awareness of eating disorders

Displays on campus through Thursday will help to educate students about issues related to eating disorders.

Staffed by student volunteers as well as representatives of the Windsor chapter of the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association, booths will offer information, free giveaways and activities, and a draw for prizes that include UwinCASH cards, a Campus Rec instructional class and a session with a personal trainer.

Passersby are invited to contribute an inspirational quote to a calendar marking 365 days of positive thoughts, make a button bearing a personal mantra, or take a photo in a booth meant to encourage foregoing the use of image filters.

“We want people to be happy with the way they look, without altering those pictures,” says political science major Kamal Mann, currently serving a work-study term in the health promotion office.

The booth appeared Monday in the CAW Student Centre Commons and will operate there Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will relocate to the Human Kinetics Building on Thursday, January 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in its main lobby and in the Forge fitness centre from 3 to 6 p.m.
