Partnership to introduce residence students to University Players

Going to the theatre is as much a social experience as an artistic one, says Anna Galka, marketing coordinator for the University Players. So it made sense for the drama troupe to partner with Residence Services to emphasize the fun aspect of theatre while introducing it to a new audience.

The company has granted free admission for about 200 residence students to Saturday’s matinee of its production the Three Musketeers. Following the performance, the students will enjoy pizza and prizes compliments of Residence Services.

“In this way, we can showcase the exceptional quality of University Players productions, the fantastic location right here on campus, and of course, the great entertainment value,” Galka says. “The efforts of Residence Services to help students engage in activities on campus really highlights their commitment to the welfare of their students.”

Residence Life team lead Lynn Charron called the project a win-win.

“We felt it was a great opportunity for University Players to promote their shows to residence students and a great opportunity for Residence Services to show our students another way to get involved with our campus community,” she said.

The play opens September 23 and runs through to October 2 in the Essex Hall Theatre. Wednesday through Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.UniversityPlayers.com or by calling 519-253-3000, ext. 2808.
