Reception a showcase of student scholarship

Originally conceived three years ago to honour students representing the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the UWill Discover undergraduate research conference, an annual event scheduled for Wednesday has outgrown its format.

“We now have more than 20 honorees who will be acknowledged, so many that we cannot have them all present their work,” says organizer Erica Stevens Abbitt, director of the host Humanities Research Group.

She calls it “a wonderful problem to have” and notes the program now calls for a selection of students researchers to briefly describe their projects.

“From psychology to drama, computer science, digital journalism, political science, sociology, creative writing, women’s and gender studies — those present will get an idea of the range of creative and scholarly activity covered by this work,” she says.

The event is free and open to the public. It begins at 4 p.m. February 15 in Katzman Lounge, Vanier Hall.
