Student posters to present aquatic projects

Student researchers will show they have water on the brain Wednesday, as they present posters on their projects related to World Water Day, in the lobby of the Centre for Engineering Innovation.

Subjects range from the challenges of nutrient loading in the Great Lakes to the management of storm water in urban environments to the impacts of climate change, says organizer Tirupati Bolisetti, a professor of civil and environmental engineering.

He expects about 30 students from engineering and the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research to present posters. Trevor Pitcher, acting executive director of research and development in Research and Innovation Services, and Majid Ahmadi, co-ordinator of advanced and professional studies in engineering, will deliver opening addresses.

The campus community is invited to the free event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly designated March 22 as World Water Day to invite people to learn more about water-related issues and take action to make a difference.
