New dean to take reins in Faculty of Education

Ken Montgomery, associate dean for research and graduate programs in education at the University of Regina, has accepted an appointment as dean of the UWindsor Faculty of Education to commence July 1, provost Douglas Kneale announced Friday.

Dr. Montgomery is a past director of the Saskatchewan Justice Institute and taught at Wilfrid Laurier University before moving to Regina. His research interests include antiracism and critical multicultural education, post-colonialism, sociology of education, philosophy and education, discourse analysis, social justice, treaty education, nationalism, and cultural studies.

In announcing the appointment, Dr. Kneale thanked members of the search committee.

“Together you have just begun charting the future course of Education at the University of Windsor,” he wrote.

He also expressed appreciation to acting dean Katherine Quinsey “for her wonderful leadership over the past 18 months.”
