Lecture to explore urban sustainability

A UWindsor instructor will discuss the integration of information and communications technologies in urban design in a free public lecture entitled “An Introduction to Smart Cities,” Tuesday, August 1, in the Toldo Health Education Centre.

“Smart cities aim to achieve high levels of livability and sustainability for urban inhabitants,” said Negin Minaei. “However, that cannot happen without the public’s awareness and cooperation, responsible decision-makers, conscious strategic planning and infrastructure investments towards a resilient, sustainable future.”

Dr. Minaei teaches the course “Sustainable Smart Cities” in the Faculty of Engineering and is the founder of the consulting firm EnDesign, which provides environmentally-friendly approaches to businesses and communities.

Her lecture, hosted by the UWindsor student branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, begins at 2:30 in room 102, Toldo Health Education Centre.
