Panel discussions to wrap up week of energetic events

A pair of panel discussions Thursday, October 5, will bring down the curtain on Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Week.

Both panels will convene in the Commons area of the CAW Student Centre. At 11 a.m., a discussion of “Climate Change and Energy Conservation” will feature:

  • law professor Patricia Galvao on “The Paris Climate Agreement and the Global Move towards Renewable Energy”;
  • civil and environmental engineering professor Paul Henshaw on “Saving Energy: First Step in the Path to Sustainability”; and
  • civil and environmental engineering professor Rupp Carriveau on “Next Generation Energy: What Does It Look Like and How to Build It?”

The second panel, at 2 p.m., is on the topic “Towards Renewable Energy in Windsor,” and will feature:

  • Sean Moore of Unconquered Sun on “Unconquered Sun and the Future of Solar Deployment in Ontario”;
  • Karina Richters, City of Windsor environmental co-ordinator, on “Windsor’s Community Energy Plan”;
  • Lori Newton of Bike Windsor Essex on “Taking Back Our Streets: Why Changing Culture Matters”; and
  • Sean Hart of the Windsor-Essex Electric Vehicle Association on “Electric Cars are Better.”

In addition, a display of electric vehicles is set for outside the student centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
