Infrastructure upgrade to disrupt network services Sunday

Several network services may become unavailable to users during upgrades to information technology infrastructure on November 5.

IT Services staff will activate new servers and perform maintenance on security systems to accommodate the UWinsite Enterprise Resource Planning system, Sunday from 6 to 10 a.m.

During this period, users may be unable to access:

  • Blackboard Learn
  • Food Services
  • Access to the Internet (wired & wireless networks)
  • myUWindsor
  • SIS system
  • UWindsor website
  • GoPrint services
  • Academic and Research Server (arc1)
  • Email and antispam processing
  • JDE Finance system
  • VIP HR system
  • Small business systems (e.g. STG Housing)

The work involves the installation and testing of powerful new servers to handle the workload of the Student Administration module, says Kevin Macnaughton, acting manager of client services and technology.

“We have done our best to schedule the service outage so it minimizes impact to campus,” he says, inviting anyone with questions or concerns to the IT Service Desk at 519-253-3000, ext. 4440, or open a service ticket at http://www.uwindsor.ca/itshelp.
