Strategies for sports success subject of lunchtime lecture

The director of the Sport Psychology Research Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at McGill University will deliver a free public lecture Friday at the University of Windsor.

Gordon Bloom will present “Coach Mentoring: Strategies for Learning and Success” at noon February 9 in room 144, Human Kinetics Building.

Dr. Bloom has developed an internationally-recognized coaching research program related to the knowledge, strategies, and behaviours employed by coaches in terms of leadership practices, mentoring, and team building that are designed to develop successful and well-balanced athletes.

He has incorporated the findings of his research in his role as a sport psychology consultant with amateur, professional, Olympic, and Paralympic athletes, and currently works for the United States Olympic Committee as part of its National Team Coach Leader Education Program.

This event is hosted by the Faculty of Human Kinetics as part of its Distinguished Speakers’ Series.
