Film grad draws praise for short documentary

A UWindsor alumna has had her work as a filmmaker and cinematographer recognized by the industry association Women in Film and Television–Toronto.

A short documentary by Christina Ienna (BA communication, media and film 2009) was named Best of Showcase and also won awards for best cinematography and best short doc at the organization’s screening and awards reception April 17.

Handmade Film explores the work of artist Lindsay McIntyre, who specializes in experimental films, projection performance, and handmade emulsion.

In an interview, Ienna said the project is meant to remind moviegoers to appreciate the process of working with film, as opposed to digital media.

“I hope the piece gives audiences a peek behind the screen and potentially intrigues a few to pursue filmmaking themselves,” she said. “As for those already filming, this is a little salute to you and your passion to create in this medium.”
