Spirit of social enterprise subject of summit

Experts from diverse backgrounds will share their personal experiences during the EPIC social enterprise summit, “Fuelling Social Enterprise,” at the Entrepreneurship Practice and Innovation Centre on Friday, March 1.

Organizers intend to help participants better understand how to apply commercial strategies to improve social and environmental well-being.

Presenters include:

  • Lori Nickel, CEO of Second Harvest, one of Canada’s largest food rescue missions, connecting excess food with those in need;
  • Andrew Vashist, director of social enterprise for the Pillar Nonprofit Network, which supports organizations by creating connections across the nonprofit, business, and government sectors;
  • Lindsay Lorusso, chief creator of Nudnik, which produces children’s clothing from fabrics that would otherwise be wasted;
  • Dane Fader, founder of GreenerBins, which collects food waste for conversion into compost.

The event runs 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 123, Odette Building. Registration is free and includes a complimentary breakfast and lunch. Find details on the EPICentre website.
