Fair a unique opportunity to reach prospective students

More than 100 UWindsor faculty, staff, and students will head to Toronto this weekend to represent the school at the Ontario Universities’ Fair, the single largest event on the student recruitment calendar.

Organizers expect the event to attract some 130,000 people to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Sept. 27 to 29.

“The fall term just started, but we’re well underway promoting the University to the next incoming class of Lancers,” says Chris Busch, acting associate vice president, enrolment management. “Our team is on the road, on trains, and on planes visiting high schools across Ontario, Canada, and the globe.”

He says the fair provides a unique opportunity for recruitment officers to explain to prospective students why they are Windsor Proud.

“Last year, we talked with more than 5,600 visitors at our booth, answering questions about our academic programs and the student experience — a 40 per cent increase over the previous year,” Busch says. “With our continued investments in marketing and technology, and a passionate group representing us on the floor, we hope to see further gains this weekend.”

Following the fair, recruiters will turn to planning for the Fall Open House, which will bring thousands of high schoolers and their families to campus Saturday, Nov. 2.
