Registration now open for the annual Take Our Kids to Work Day

University of Windsor employees may register up to two Grade 9 students to participate in the Take Our Kids to Work Day program to be held on Nov. 6.

Launched in 1994, the Take Our Kids to Work Day is an annual national program of the “Learning Partnership” in which Grade 9 students are hosted by parents, friends, or relatives at workplaces across the country. This initiative enhances students’ understanding of the realities of working life and supports them in exploration and planning of their career paths. Take Our Kids to Work Day is the most recognized career education event in Canada, with an estimated 200,000 students visiting workplaces every year.

Employees are encouraged to host their son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandchild, or child of a friend or neighbour. The UWindsor program will offer participants a variety of group activities co-ordinated by faculties and departments, and the opportunity to job-shadow their parent or host for a portion of the day. The detailed agenda can be found on the program website.

Employees who wish to bring a Grade 9 student to campus must complete the online registration form and submit a waiver signed by the child’s parent or guardian no later than Oct. 25.

The Take Our Kids to Work Day initiative is co-ordinated by the Department of Human Resources and made possible by the generous contributions of campus partners and sponsors.
