Inventory to close University Bookstore until end of April

The University Bookstore will close for its annual inventory from Friday, April 26, to Tuesday, April 30.

Marketing manager Martin Deck encourages all customers with purchases to make before the end of the fiscal year to get in by Thursday, April 25.

“If all goes as planned, the Bookstore kiosk in the CAW Student Centre will reopen on Monday, April 29,” he says. Watch for details in DailyNews.

The Bookstore location in Vanier Hall will reopen on Wednesday, May 1, at 9 a.m.

Work underway to create Campus Bookstore space

Progress toward relocating the Campus Bookstore to the ground floor of the CAW Student Centre is “very exciting,” says Anna Kirby, executive director of campus services.

“I can’t wait for people to see what that will look like in the fall,” she says. “They will be very pleased at what it offers to our students.”

Workers are currently clearing out the area that had been the Thirsty Scholar Pub. That space will house the bookstore, selling textbooks, school and office supplies, computers and computer supplies, UWindsor- and Lancer-themed apparel and a wide array of giftware.

University Bookstore kiosk offerings savings on UWindsor-themed pants

Got pants? The University Bookstore wants to make sure you do, and is offering a 15 per cent discount on all UWindsor-themed pants, today only, at its kiosk in the CAW Student Centre.

The sale is part of the True Savings Tuesdays series, explains marketing manager Martin Deck.

“We’re trying to make sure we offer a special every week at the kiosk, just as a thanks to our customers,” he says.

So if you bought a discounted sweatshirt last week, now’s your chance to complete the ensemble!

Discount intended to clear sale books

The University Bookstore is offering a deep discount on thousands of sale books, with prices set at 99 cents for paperbacks and $1.99 for hardcover volumes.

Marketing manager Martin Deck says the sale is intended to clear all of the store’s sale books.

“We are trying to free up some shelf space,” he said Thursday in the store’s Vanier Hall location. “We’re just glad to be able to offer our clients such a great deal.”

While there are thousands of titles, fiction, non-fiction, and poetry on a huge range of topics, Deck notes the supply is limited.

One-day sale to offer savings on faculty-themed sweatshirts

The University Bookstore is offering a 10 per cent discount on all sweatshirts emblazoned with program and faculty names today—Tuesday, February 26—at its kiosk in the CAW Student Centre.

“The Faculty Sweatshirts are our most popular item of clothing, but we’ve noticed that some students don’t seem to have one,” says marketing manager Martin Deck. “So we thought we’d offer a discount for one day only to see if we can fix that!”

Scientific approach nets Caboto cookbook for trivia contest winner

Laura McLean, secretary to the dean of science, is in a distinct minority. She was one of just two respondents to get every answer correct in Wednesday’s trivia quiz marking the 12th day of the 12th month of the 12th year.

Since hers was the name that came out of the hat, McLean received a copy of Cooking with Giovanni Caboto, courtesy of the University Bookstore.

One question in particular tripped up the majority of contestants—the final gift in The 12 Days of Christmas. In her e-mail response, McLean called it a “trick question.”

Bookstore offers savings Friday for faculty and staff

Get your holiday shopping done on campus—the University Bookstore is offering a 10 per cent discount for UWindsor faculty and staff Friday, December 14.

The 10 per cent discount applies to all purchases, excluding course materials, textbooks and computers. It even will reduce further the giftware and games already on sale. And the sale applies to purchases both from the Bookstore’s location in Vanier Hall and its kiosk in the CAW Student Centre.

Trivia quiz a duodecad celebration of calendric curiosity

Today—December 12, 2012—is 12/12/12 and to celebrate the occasion, the University Bookstore is offering DailyNews readers a special contest with an alluring prize.

Up for grabs is a copy of Cooking with Giovanni Caboto. This handsome hardbound volume gathers more than 230 recipes, drawn from each of Italy’s 20 regions and taste-tested in the kitchens of Windsor’s Caboto Club. Featuring more than 250 colour photographs, the book retails at $34.95 and would make a perfect gift for anyone wanting to expand their culinary horizons.

Book signing a reminder that the past makes a perfect present

The past is the perfect present, says Chris Edwards.

The UWindsor grad (BA 1983, MA 1985) and his life and business partner Elaine Weeks (BA 1985) have already sold 4,000 copies of their nostalgic coffee table book, 500 Ways You Know You’re From Windsor. They will sign copies as a pre-holiday promotion at the University Bookstore kiosk in the CAW Student Centre on Wednesday, December 12, from noon to 2 p.m.
