Thumbs-up: John Powell and George Kalivas of the UWindsor public affairs office congratulate Alanna Kelly, winner of the #LancerLife photo contest.
The dedication of varsity athletes is the perfect subject for a photo depicting Lancer pride, says Alanna Kelly. A lot of voters agreed, making her image of sprinters lining up in the starting blocks [1]the winner of the #LancerLife photo contest [2].
“Everyone on our track team is dedicated to doing their best,” says Kelly, a former member of the team herself. “They are Canadian Interuniversity Sport champions, but a lot of people don’t realize we are the best team in the country.”
Kelly’s photo drew 844 Facebook likes in less than a week to finish on top. As a fourth-year visual arts and communications major, she says she appreciates the exposure.
“I want to do graduate study in journalism, so it’s good for me to get my work out there.”
She also admits to being excited about the prize – a Sony Cyber-shot digital camera.
“I don’t have a small camera, so I appreciate the opportunity to have one I can carry around with me everywhere.”
