The BUILD Program

Bridge to University for Individuals with Learning Disabilities

The 2013 BUILD Program
(August, 2013.  Dates to be announced)

Now entering it's eighth year, the BUILD Program was created to ease the transition to university for students with documented learning disabilities and/or ADHD. During this three-day program, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Get a head start on their orientation to campus life while exploring the unique opportunities and challenges faced by students with learning disabilities
  • Learn about the variety of services and supports available on campus and through Student Disability Services
  • Discover valuable techniques, strategies, and technology to help maximize their learning potential
  • Meet and socialize with fellow students, colleagues, and university staff and faculty

During their participation in the BUILD Program, students are provided with vital information and support through orientation workshops, peer mentoring, academic skills training, and one-on-one advising. Participating students will be provided with FREE accommodations and meals during the week of the BUILD program. To participate in this program, students must:

  • Have been granted admission to the University of Windsor
  • Possess documentation suggesting the presence of a learning disability or ADHD. For the purposes of BUILD Program participation only, this can take the form of an IPRC report, IEP summary, or a psycho educational assessment report
  • Submit a completed application form by the deadline date (to be announced)

Please note that because space in the program is limited, application does not mean automatic acceptance. Applicants will be contacted to confirm their intention to attend, as well as to confirm their acceptance to the program. (Please be aware that some students may require additional/updated documentation in order to receive academic accommodations when class begins. Program staff will be available to assist with arrangements for that. To learn more about the documentation requirements for academic accommodation at a post-secondary level, please review our  Documentation of Disability page.
