Meeting Our Responsibilities Together

Students with disabilities have specific rights and entitlements which are guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Section 15), the Ontario Human Rights Code (Section 17, Subsections 1-4), the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Acts (AODA) , and University of Windsor Senate Policy S2: Special Needs Policy. These rights come with responsibilities, which must be met in order for the accommodation process to work. The process requires communication and co-operation between students, instructors and the staff of Student Disability Services. This three-way partnership works best when each partner understands and respects these rights and responsibilities.
