Diana Mady Kelly, O. Ont.

Diana Mady KellyProfessor Emerita Diana Mady Kelly is a member of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Theatre Ontario Talent Bank, and the Arts Council - Windsor and Region.

She trained at the London Academy of Dramatic Art in England, in New York with Uta Hagen, Los Angeles with Viola Spolin, and took her sabbatical at the Stratford Shakespearean Festival. Professor Emeritus Mady Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Assumption College, and a Masters in Theatre from New York University, as well as a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Western Ontario.

Professor Emeritus Mady Kelly is a recipient of both an OCUFA Award and Lieutenant Governor’s Laurel Award for Teaching Excellence.

She is a theatre director and an acting teacher. Selected publications: “Life Studies: Exercises in Characterization for the Actor in Training”; “The People in Donald Sutherland’s Head”; “Ripeness is All” an interview with Nicholas Pennell. Recent productions directed include PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE by Steve Martin and BONJOUR LA BONJOUR by Michel Tremblay. “AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS” marks Professor Mady Kelly’s third collaboration with the Windsor Symphony. In 1991, she staged Matthew Locke’s THE TEMPEST with Colm Feore and Scott Wentworth. In 1997, she produced 50 YEARS OF BROADWAY on behalf of University Players.

She was awarded the Order of Ontario on January 28, 2010.
