How much is tuition?

Students enrolled in the Canadian & American Dual J.D. Program pay tuition to both the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and the University of Windsor Faculty of Law.

One of the unique features of the Program is locked-in tuition fees. In order to increase accessibility and stability at a time when tuition fees are rising yearly, both schools expect to hold annual tuition constant for the three year Program. Therefore, upon admission to the Canadian & American Dual J.D. Program, the amount of tuition in first year is the same amount charged in second and third years.

Tuition for the incoming class of 2011/2012 was $13,482 CDN for the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and $20,609 USD for the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.  Tuition for 2012-2013 will be set in late Spring 2012.  It is expected that University of Detroit Mercy rates will increase by approximately 6% and University of Windsor rates will increase by approximately 8%.

What is the tuition fee for international students?

All dual J.D. students pay the same tuition.  However, at the University of Windsor, in addition to the incidential fees described above, international students will be charged an additional $327.00 per year.

When is tuition paid?

Fees are due and payable at each school prior to the commencement of regular term classes. The student's name, identification number, address, and telephone number should be recorded on the remittance form to ensure that the records are properly credited.

What other incidential fees can I expect?

In addition to its tuition, the University of Detroit Mercy charges Student Bar Association Fees, approximately $95.00 per year.

In addition to its tuition, the University of Windsor charges for a number of incidential fees for services, e.g. medical, dental, etc. For 2009/2010, these additional charges amounted to about $980; however, you can opt out of some of the charges if you wish, e.g. dental coverage, thereby reducing the amount you pay.  Please note, international students pay an additional $327.00 per year in incidential fees.
