Congratulations to Robert Rival, who, along with Jon-Thomas Godin, has been selected as co-winners of the 2009 George Proctor Prize for the best student paper at the annual conference of the Canadian University Music Society, held May 28-31 at Carleton University.
A doctoral student at the University of Toronto, Robert Rival offered his paper entitled, "The Comfort of Denial: Metre, Cyclic Form, and Narrative in Shostakovich's Seventh String Quartet." Mr. Rival will be teaching Basic Skills I and II and Voice-leading & Arranging I and II at the School of Music beginning this September.
