Beginning in September 2010, University of Windsor and Lambton College are partnering to offer students a new BEd/ECE Diploma program with a focus on early learning. This two-year joint program will be offered exclusively on-site at Lambton College in Sarnia.  Applications to the program will be accepted until June 30.

This joint venture is designed to meet the anticipated demand for early childhood educators and primary teachers prepared to deliver the full-day early learning program announced by the provincial government in October 2009. The full-day learning initiative will be phased in this September 2010, and accessed by approximately 240,000 four- and five-year-olds by 2015. Graduates of the new joint program will be able to apply for positions as an elementary teacher or as an early childhood educator in Ontario’s schools.

Combining quality programming with exceptional faculty, the University of Windsor Faculty of Education prides itself in offering a student-focused approach to education. The Faculty has earned respect for successful teacher preparation and has designed an educational experience that guarantees a solid theoretical foundation for embarking on a career in teaching. This degree-granting program also emphasizes active involvement and reflective practice by providing students with practical work experience in primaryjunior classroom settings alongside a certified teaching professional.

Located in Sarnia, Ontario, on the shores of Lake Huron, Lambton College’s Early Childhood Education program specializes in preparing students in both theory and practice in a variety of settings. Students will have the opportunity to experience child care first-hand within the Lambton College on-campus Ontario Early Years Centre.
