A message from the Dean

Welcome to the University of Windsor, Faculty of Education! We look forward to welcoming you to our educational community. The goal of our professors – the most diverse team in Ontario – is to promote your professional and scholarly growth as a reflective, caring, competent and innovative educator. Our mission is shaped by a commitment to equity and social justice, and at Windsor we offer specialized programming to enrich your experience.

We offer a Bachelor of Education degree (BEd), which is not only a gateway to the teaching profession, but also to a number of educational careers. With this degree you will enhance your abilities in leadership, professional development, instructional, motivational and interpersonal skills. It is also the degree required to teach in Ontario elementary and secondary schools – immediately after completion of the degree or as a career option in the future.

Our programs have a focus in social justice and equity. WindsorEd provides its teacher candidates with an advantage through innovative enrichment programming, and teacher candidates in our program have opportunities to become involved in international activities. The Faculty of Education also offers a Masters of Education (MEd) which is designed for those who are interested in exploring and understanding education and training – especially as it refers back to your undergrad specialization. This is a research degree….it will challenge! You do not need a BEd to enter the MEd degree.
