The Faculty of Education at University of Windsor offers future educators unique learning opportunities through optional enrichment courses and global initiatives. These courses and programs, along with strategic collaborative partnerships involving boards of education, Universities and community partners, provide our teacher candidates with rich intellectual and experiential learning opportunities.
In addition to the annual Career Day Fair and Social Justice Conference, the Faculty of Education presents our teacher candidates with extensive leadership and network opportunities through student involvement in the Education Society, Teacher Education Committee (TELC) and Science Olympiad.
Our enrichment courses/programs; Leadership Experience for Academic Direction (LEAD), Guidance and Career Education, Ecology and Wellness: Environmental Education for 21st Century Stewardship, the Urban Education Project (UEP), Beginning Time Teachings: Ab/Original Cultural Training and Education Program and Language and Cultural Engagement Seminar (LACES) enhances our inclusive, comprehensive B.Ed. program.
Our global initiatives, the Global Education Research for Development Initiative (Tanzania Project), the alternative practice teaching placement in the Western Isles Council of Scotland, U.K. and the Teacher Reciprocal Learning Program (China) extends your teacher training experience beyond the Canadian culture and borders. The Professional Learning Series includes information sessions from a number of provincial and local organizations such as Ontario Colleges of Teachers, (OCT), Qualifications Evaluation Council of Ontario, (QECO), as well as presentation from school boards and recruiting Agencies for overseas teaching opportunities. The PLS also includes professional growth sessions that focus on orientation, curriculum, portfolio requirements and discussions regarding social justice and equity. Collectively, these sessions are intended to enrich the philosophy and broaden the perspective towards the teacher candidates career in education.
