Background

The Joint PhD in Educational Studies accepted its first cohort of students in summer 2000. Although the Joint PhD in Educational Studies is relatively new, in 2003-2004 it went through its first Ontario Council in Graduate Studies (OCGS) Periodic Appraisal. Periodic Appraisals of all graduate programs in Ontario universities are undertaken by OCGS on a cyclical basis. In June 2004 OCGS granted the Joint PhD in Educational Studies program leave to operate as a program of "good quality" (the highest rating achievable) until the next Periodic Appraisal of all graduate programs in education in Ontario in seven years, in the academic year 2010-2011.
