Faculty of Education Awards, Scholarships & Bursaries

Award Icon Highest Standing Award ($200)

Three awards valued at $200 each to the students standing highest in each of the Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate and Intermediate/Senior Divisions. This is automatic and does not require an application.

Award Icon Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Federation Award ($500)

Awarded annually ot the outstanding student at the Faculty of Education, enrolled in the religious education studies course, who does his or her Practice Teaching in a Roman Catholic school, and who is a registered OECTF member. The recipient will also receive a pin and have his/her name engraved on a plaque on display at the Faculty. This requires an application.

The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) offers a number of undergrad and graduate-level scholarships.

Award Icon Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation Award ($350)

Awarded to a student in regular attendance in the Winter term at the Faculty of Education, Intermediate and Senior program, who, in the opinion of the Faculty Council, has shown the most outstanding qualities of the scholarship, teaching ability and character. This requires an application.

Award Icon Ralph S. Devereux Memorial Scholarship (up to $1,000)

Awarded to a graduating student from the Faculty of Education who has achieved the highest degree of excellence in both course work and practicum experience. It was established by the Devereux Family in memory of Dr. Ralph S. Devereux, founding Principal of Windsor Teachers' College in 1962.  Principal and Professor, Faculty of Educatoin 1970 - 72. Associate Dean 1973 - 75, retiring in 1975.

Most Valuable Teacher Candidate Award  ($500)

Awarded to the teacher candidate deemed most valuable to the Faculty of Education in terms of his/her service to students, peers, faculty and community.

Faculty-Related Awards, Scholarships & Bursaries

Award Icon Alpha Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship

An annual award to a female Canadian/Permanent Resident student residing in Ontario, with a background in Visual Arts, Performing Arts, or Drama in Education, entering the Faculty of Education. Awarded on the basis of academic performance (minimum cumulative average of 76%) and financial need. 

Award Icon Buz Manojlovich Bursary

Awarded annually on the basis of scholastic standing (minimum cumulative average of 72%), and financial need to deserving female students in the Faculty of Education. Students must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status), residing in Ontario. Established in 1999 by the children and friends of Buz Manojlovich, to commemorate her retirement. If you applied for the "University of Windsor In-course Bursary" through the awards search by October 15, you will automatically be considered for this award. 

Award Icon Class of 2007 Hara Kim Memorial Award (up to $500)

Awarded to a full-time B.Ed. candidate based on academic performance and financial need. Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status) meeting OSAP residency requirements. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated significant community service, who self-identify as EAL learners, and/or who are interested in the issues explored in the Urban Education program. Additional supporting documentation required for consideration. Apply on-lineDeadline: January 31.

Award Icon Class of 2007 Melanie Givens Memorial Award (up to $500)

Awarded to a full-time B.Ed. candidate based on academic performance (minimum cumulative average of 75%) and financial need. Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status) who meets OSAP residency requirements. Preference given to candidates who have carried out previous study at the University of Windsor and who have, in some way, been affected by cancer. (Additional supporting documentation required for consideration). Apply on-lineDeadline: January 31.

Award Icon Dr. Anthony N. Ezeife Mathematics and Indigenous Education Award (MIE) ($1,000)

This annual award was established in 2020 to honour the career of Dr. Anthony N. Ezeife. It recognizes annually a high achieving student in the Faculty of Education who has excelled in mathematics education and Indigenous education courses while also demonstrating accomplishments with what Dr. Ezeife referred to as EMR ("Equity and Mutual Respect"). Dr. Ezeife was a Professor of Math, Statistics, Science, and Indigenous Education in the Faculty of Education from September 1, 2001 to July 1, 2017. Apply on-line Deadline: January 31.

Award Icon The Geraldine Salinitri Scholarship in Education ($500)

This annual award was established in the 2022-2023 academic year and is a Faculty of Education-based award, given annually to eligible students in at least Year Two (2) in their course of study, enrolled in a LEAD service-learning course. Award recipients will be selected following an internal application process by the Student Awards and Financial Aid office, with the award being adjudicated by a committee within the Faculty of Education.  Apply on-line Deadline: January 31.

Award Icon Eric and Mary Elizabeth Nadin Memorial Bursary in Education (Variable Amount)

Interest from trust will provide one scholarship annually to a full time student registered in the Faculty of Education who has demonstrated financial need. Good academic standing required. 

Award Icon Lewis and Cornelia Fritz Scholarship in Education ($1,500)

This annual award was established in the 2023-2024 academic year and is awarded to the graduating Consecutive or Concurrent B.Ed. student with the highest cumulative average. Good academic standing required.  Apply on-line Deadline: January 31,

Award Icon Linda Molnar Scholarship (Variable Amount)

Interest from this trust will support one or more awards for full-time Faculty of Education students. Based on financial need. Candidates must be graduates of Windsor/Essex County Secondary Schools and Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status), who meet OSAP Ontario residency requirements. Apply on-lineDeadline: October 31.

Award Icon McLean Budden Scholarship (up to $1,000)

Awarded to a deserving student registered in the B.Ed. program, based on submission of a one page synopsis outlining his/her interest and achievement in community health. (Please submit separately to Student Awards Office, clearly marked for consideration of this Scholarship). Financial need is also a requirement. Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status) in Ontario, who meet OSAP residency requirements. Apply on-lineDeadline: January 31. 

Award Icon Melanie Jane Harrison Memorial Award for Aspiring Teachers (up to $1,000)

Awarded on the basis of academic performance and financial need. Applicants must be full-time B.Ed. candidates who are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status) residing in Ontario. Preference given to candidates: (i) enrolled in the junior/intermediate or intermediate/senior French program, or with a documented interest in French language teaching, and (ii) who show a special commitment to education (tutoring, volunteering with students or children, etc.). Apply on-line. In addition, applicants must support their application with a short letter, stating academic and other accomplishments that reflect the criteria above. Letter must be submitted to the Student Awards Office, with name of award clearly indicated on the letter.  Apply on-lineDeadline: January 31.

Award Icon Patricia Alofs Memorial Award

An annual award is available to Faculty of Education students experiencing financial need. Preference will be given to a mature student or sole support parent. Eligible candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status), meeting Ontario residency requirements. Established in 2002 by family and friends in memory of Patricia Alofs who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Windsor. Apply on-lineDeadline: October 31.

Award Icon Régis Ronald Plante Memorial Award ($500)

Established by his family in 2019 in memory of Régis Ronald Plante. Régis was born and raised in Windsor and was a graduate of the University of Windsor. He taught with the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and retired from St Joseph’s High School. Apply on-lineDeadline: January 31.

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is a mix of grants and loans for students. Through one OSAP application, you have access to this mix of different financial aid programs, depending on your circumstances.

Award Icon Ignite

Ignite funds approximately 400 part-time jobs on campus for students demonstrating financial need related to basic living expenses and direct educational costs (approximately 50 positions are reserved for international students).  Positions offer the opportunity for both financial benefits and skills development.
