
The Wireless Communication and Information Processing Lab (WiCIP) has won the Smart Grid Student Competition and received $2000 prize from Durham Strategic Energy Alliance. The competitors were from Queen's University, Ryerson University, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and Durhan Collage. The smart phone application developed by WiCIP called "SmartAuto" will alleviate transition from conventional vehicles to electrical vehicles by scheduling charging based on drivers daily activities, vehicle state of charge, and location of charging stations.
