Career Quest: Tools & Techniques
Feb. 15, 2017
18:00 – 20:00
Room 1100, Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation
University of Windsor

Everyone knows that the job hunt can be an overwhelming process. But what if you could get inside the mind of the person sitting on the other side of the hiring table? The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) may not be able to teach you how to read minds, but they can offer a two-hour Career Quest: Tools & Techniques workshop that is delivered from the perspective of the engineering employer.

Everything about this workshop—from its content to its delivery—takes the engineering profession into account. The workshop was specially designed by an engineering capability development professional with nearly a decade of experience recruiting and grooming engineers and engineering graduates for success in the energy sector.

The workshop features a unique structure that focuses on practical application rather than theoretical formulations and delves into such topics as:

  • The “SPECIFICATIONS” engineering employers require when hiring
  • Technical know-how versus ATTITUDE
  • Selecting the appropriate resume style and BOOSTING your resume’s effectiveness by applying tips and techniques for tailoring it to meet an employer’s needs
  • From COLD-calling to HOT-calling – transforming the “uncomfortable conversation” into an engaging one by taking 5 simple and creative steps
  • The power of NETWORKING and how to use your university experience (projects), internship experience and even part-time jobs (non-engineering) to your advantage

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT. REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
