High School Engineering Outreach Program

Access denied. You must login to view this page.

This program engages students in high school academic science classes with fun, curriculum-based, hands-on activities.

University of Windsor Engineering staff and graduate students deliver the program at absolutely no cost to schools or students. Four different modules are available, which easily fit within the academic science curriculum.

The Engineering Outreach Program is possible thanks to funding from the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation and the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Engineering.

Program Overview

Teachers can choose from one of four modules – Water Treatment, Paint and Coatings, Integrated Electronics, and Clean Fuels. Click on the links for more detailed information on each module and on how to register.
The program is typically delivered over three days:

 Day One

This features a brief introduction to the program. When you sign up, we send an introductory package, which includes information for you, as well as a PowerPoint presentation that you can review with your class.

 Day Two

You and your class will be bussed, free of charge, to the University of Windsor. You’ll visiting engineering labs, participate in demonstrations, and learn some basic engineering concepts.
After lunch, which will be provided by the University, you will visit a related industry site to see some of the principles learned by your class during the activities and presentations. This is an excellent opportunity to see engineering in action.

 Day Three

A University of Windsor Engineering student, PhD candidate and staff member will then visit your classroom on a pre-scheduled day of your choice. They will lead your class through a hands-on activity that relates to topics covered during your visit to the University.

Please Note:

We can accommodate one class per session. All students must be able to fit in one science classroom equipped with lab stations.
