
Admission Deadlines for Domestic and International Students
Our Department allows the admission of new candidates in each semester of the academic year. The application deadline is applicable for both domestic and international students.

M.A.Sc. & Ph.D. Admission GPA Requirements
► "B-" is the minimum GPA required for admission to the M.A.Sc. Program.
► "A-" is the minimum GPA required for admission to the Ph.D. Program.
Admission is competitive in all programs.
English Proficiency Tests (Academic TOEFL or IELTS)
An academic TOEFL or IELTS is required for all international students. The requirement for admission to the M.A.Sc. or Ph.D. Program in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is indicated below.

Three Confidential Reports are preferred (two minumum). Confidential Reports are also available with the On-line Application.

On-line Application Procedure
1. Please go to the Faculty of Graduate Studies website and complete the On-line Application. For additional information go to: How to Apply - Application for Admission.
NOTE: The Office of the Registrar, Graduate Studies Division will maintain your file until it is complete. When your file is complete it will then be forwarded to the Department for review.
Departmental Procedures
1. Upon receiving your complete file in the department it will be directed to the appropriate Graduate Coordinator for review to ascertain if you are qualified for acceptance to our M.A.Sc. or Ph.D. Progam. The Graduate Coordinator will then circulate your file to the appropriate professor(s). If a professor commits to supervise you, the Graduate Coordinator will then recommend admission and forward your file to the Dean of Graduate Studies for final approval. You will be notified by mail directly from the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
2. If no supervisor is available or funding is not available, the Graduate Coordinator may recommend admission to the M.A.Sc. (Major Paper) or forward your file to the M.Eng. Program.
Q: Do you need to submit a statement of interest with your application? Yes.
Q: Do you need to apply with a supervisor in mind? No.
NOTE: Sending documents and/or e-mails directly to the Graduate Coordinator or to an individual professor will not speed up the admission process to our Program. In fairness to those who have paid the application fee, the Graduate Coordinator will examine completed files received from the Office of the Registrar, Graduate Studies Division. If time permits, and at the discretion of the Graduate Coordinator, only a cursory assessment may be provided for partial and/or unverified information provided.
