ByLaw 31: Student Affairs and Integrity

[...]

The role of the instructor in the new Bylaw 31 is to report allegations of misconduct to his/her Associate Dean. Following the completion of the complaint process, sanctions may be imposed by Associate Deans, AAU Heads of Professional Programs which have adopted in whole or in substance the rules of conduct as set out by their professional bodies, the Vice-Provost, Students and International, a Judicial Panel, and/or the Discipline Appeal Committee.

In response to questions regarding marking of assignments, in instances where an instructor suspects plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct, s/he should not assign a grade. Rather, a notation of incomplete should be entered. At this stage, the complaint process has not been completed (even if the student admits to the conduct in question). Instructors who suspect an act of academic misconduct are to report it to the Associate Dean.
