Dr. Clayton Smith has indicated that the Registrar's staff will be rigidly imposing some of the exam rules in place (with the aid of a couple of campus police at each session as necessary).
1. No student will be allowed into the exam hall after 30:00 minutes into the exam.
2. No student will be allowed to leave the exam hall until after 30:00 minutes into the exam.
3. All students entering the exam room will have to show their student ID, or alternately, a photo ID (such as a driver's license), unless the Instructor can personally identify the student.
Advance notice will be provided to advise all faculty members and students of the intention to tighten up the administration of examination sessions. Faculty members should be prepared to meet with their Graduate Assistants prior to their arrival at the examination, so that all examination invigilators for the course can be admitted to the examination area together. Otherwise, there may be problems for some Graduate Assistants to get into the room to assist the Professor. They should be reminded that they are there to ensure that the students are aware that the Faculty of Engineering intends to be vigilant in preventing opportunities for cheating, and that with your support on the site, steps to minimize cheating opportunities (such as re-seating in different locations any students giving cause for suspicion) can be implemented.
Although tardiness in the arrival of an Engineering Professor and/or the Graduate Assistants does not have an explicitly defined penalty associated with it, the Office of the Registrar does document such situations and provides a report to Faculty representatives. Given these circumstances, it would seem prudent to appear to be well organized when arriving at the examination room assigned.
