Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ
How many courses can be taken each semester?
Full-time students can take a maximum of 3 courses and minimum of 1 course per semester. Part-time students can take a maximum of 2 courses and minimum of 1 course per semester.
How can I change my major?
If you are interested in changing your major please send an e-mail to Sarah Cats at mengprog@uwindsor.ca with your name, student number and request. The e-mail and student transcript will be printed and shown to the Faculty Coordinator for Advanced & Professional Studies. If the change is approved the request is sent to Graduate Studies and the change will be made within a few weeks.
How much time do I have to complete my degree?
Full-time students will be required to complete all degree requirements in a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 semesters. Part-time students are required to complete all degree requirements within 15 academic semesters.
Can I take a leave of absence?
In order to take a leave of absence students must fill out a leave of absence application form. Fill out the form and return it to Sarah Cats in room 116, Essex Hall. Follow all instructions as set out on the form itself. The form must be signed by the Faculty Coordinator for Advanced & Professional Studies and forwarded to Graduate Studies for approval. If the form is approved the student will receive an e-mail from Graduate Studies outlining their rights during their leave. Without an approved leave of absence a students spot in the program will not be held and the student may be required to re-apply to the program. See the form for processing fees.
Where do I get information about the TB testing for international students?
The TB testing is mandatory to complete your registration with the University. To get this test done students must contact either the International Student Centre at www.uwindsor.ca/ISC or the Windsor-Essex Health Unit located at: 1005 Ouellette Ave, Windsor, ON Telephone: 258-2146 ex 1443.
Is there a Co-op Program?
Co-op placements are paid and can provide a minimum of 4 months to a maximum of 8 months of career-related employment. This opportunity may be of particular interest to international students since the paid, career-related experience that the Co-op program can provide may positively impact the ability to qualify for a longer post-graduate work permit.
Candidates meeting the following minimum admission requirements will be considered. However, the number of available spots is limited, so only the most qualified candidates will be admitted.
