Undergraduate Programs

Students can choose a variety of undergraduate programs that offer foundation-building approaches to literary traditions in the English language – covering the Medieval and Renaissance, through the Enlightenment, Romantic, Victorian, to the Modern, Postmodern, and contemporary periods.

Programs:

  • General English

  • Honours English

  • Combined Honours English

Programs vary in length (three or four years) and in number of required and elective courses (depending on student interests).

First and second-year courses survey a literary period or theme, and introduce students to modes of critical thinking.

Third- and fourth-year courses present special topics (for example, the topic of rhetoric in Renaissance Literature) and a deeper and closer look at given subjects.
