Our 1st Rube Goldberg Machine
In promotion of the engineering profession, we had a team of volunteer engineering students get together to build a Rube Goldberg Machine. This is an event that ESSCO coordinates yearly with all the engineering schools in Ontario during National Engineering Month (March). Each school's machine is interconnected to the other machines around the province via cell phone signal. The end result of these machines is to light up the CN Tower purple: the colour of engineering. The CN Tower was lit up purple at 7PM on March 7th, 2012.
Here is the link to a video of our machine:

Red Bull Paper Wings!
It’s the return of the high-flying competition Red Bull Paper Wings, the only contest where a paper airplane could take you around the world. In partnership with the University of Windsor’s Engineering Students Society, was held on
Tuesday February 28 from 12PM to 4PM, at the C.A.W Student Centre, students were to be challenged with creating the best paper airplanes.
All aspiring paper airplane engineers and pilots—professional and amateur--are encouraged to construct planes designed to compete in one of three categories: distance, airtime and aerobatics. Winners of each category will compete in the National Final set to take place in Toronto in April 2012. Winners of the Canadian national finals will win a trip on a real airplane bound for Austria to represent Canada at the Red Bull Paper Wings World Finals on May 4-5, 2012.

Updates on Twitter
As some of you may know during this year's frosh week we had a constant live feed of what was going on, when and where, via twitter. This idea worked so well that the twitter feed will continue to broadcast throughout the year. The "tweets" will not be as frequent as they were during frosh week but they will be going out whenever something important is happening like a meeting or an event. You can get in on all this twitter action by following
@WindsorBeaver on Twitter. It is even possible to have all the tweets sent directly to your cell phone via text message; you just simply connect your twitter account to your phone and presto you're in the loop 24/7!
