The University of Windsor's Faculty of Human Kinetics invites applications for the position of Associate Dean, Academic Programs, for a term of 4 years commencing July 1, 2018. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
The Faculty of Human Kinetics comprises two program areas, namely the Department of Kinesiology and the Division of Athletics and Recreational Services. The Department of Kinesiology offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees with approximately 800 undergraduate and over 80 graduate students. Vibrant research and teaching cultures within Kinesiology facilitate high quality, student-centred learning experiences which are supported by state-of-the-art facilities. At the undergraduate level, students take a common core of Kinesiology courses in addition to related option courses prior to majoring in Movement Science or Sport Management. Graduate students can complete their program of study in either Applied Human Performance or Sport Management through a thesis or internship route at the Master’s level and in Kinesiology at the Doctoral level. The Division of Athletics and Recreational Services administers programs for varsity sports that compete in Ontario University Athletics and USport leagues, competitive clubs, intramurals, instructional classes, health and fitness initiatives for the campus and University community.
The Associate Dean, Academic Programs is an integral part of the academic leadership team in the Faculty of Human Kinetics, providing strategic leadership on educational matters related to the development, delivery, and review of academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Associate Dean, Academic Programs leads and has responsibility for the design of academic programs by integrating innovative pedagogies and best practices, working collaboratively within the Faculty of Human Kinetics, with other Faculties at the University of Windsor, as well as with institutions within Canada and globally. Associate Decanal responsibilities include quality appraisal of new and existing programs in accordance with university, provincial, and external accreditation bodies. The Associate Dean, Academic Programs will align Faculty objectives with the University’s Strategic Mandate Agreement and play an integral role in Strategic Enrolment Management.
Applicants must hold a tenured appointment in the Faculty, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The ideal candidate would have curriculum development and review experience in higher education with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
