The Feminist Research Group, or FRG, is a graduate student initiated and run research group at the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada. FRG was created to support, encourage, and validate feminist knowledge.
FRG provides a variety of opportunities to encourage and support feminist knowledge on campus and in the community.
The Goals of the Feminist Research Group:
-
To develop a feminist community that is welcoming and provides encouragement, validation and an opportunity to be challenged. This community should also present the opportunity to network.
-
To be involved in the production and sharing of feminist knowledge. This should be a multidisciplinary endeavour that is based on praxis – that is, the embodiment and mobilization of this knowledge in our everyday lives.
-
To promote the production and sharing of feminist knowledge, beyond ourselves and our group to the wider community
The Structure
-
The FRG chair rotates on a monthly basis. Members volunteer to act as chair 2-3 months in advance. The acting chair schedules and facilitates meetings, takes minutes, and maintains communication throughout the month.
-
The FRG practices consensus building as a means of decision making.
