Want to be a Chiropractor?
The University of Windsor is a great beginning to a career in chiropractics. We offer several undergraduate degrees that provide the academic requirements for chiropractic college. There are two schools in Canada that students can attend to become a chiropractor: Canadian Memorial Chiropractor College (CMCC) and University of Quebec a Trois Rivieres (UQTR). CMCC is the only college in Canada to offer a Doctor of Chiropractic degree program that is taught in English.
What undergraduate degree should I complete?
It depends on which Chiropractic College you wish to apply to and what subject area you are interested in. University of Windsor students have typically been enrolled in (but not limited to) the following programs:
BSc Biology
BHK Kinesiology
For CMCC, you will require at least three full years of undergraduate university study in Canada at an accredited university. Admission is based on academic assessment and interview.
Although a Science background is not required, there may be specific science courses that students are encouraged to complete. You should frequently check with the Chiropractic schools of interest to make sure that you are fulfilling all of their requirements. It is also recommended that you check with the licensing body of the area in which you intend to practice to confirm whether the licensing body has any prerequisites in order to practice.
Are there any other options for chiropractic schools?
As there are only two chiropractic colleges in Canada, many Canadian students attend colleges in the United States or overseas. If you graduate as a chiropractor in the U.S. or overseas and intend to practice in Canada, you must write a Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board Exam and a provincial licensing exam on your return.
With all this school how will you pay for it? Here are some options:
This is the Ontario Student Assistant Program. Many university students use this system to apply for a student loan to help them pay for school.
Scholarships, Awards & Bursaries:
The University of Windsor offers several automatic scholarships for applicants coming directly out of high school going into a 4-year Honors Bachelor’s degree program.
