Spring Open House



Education (consecutive program for candidates with a first degree)

  • Our one-year, consecutive program integrates on-campus classes with approximately 60 days of classroom observation and teaching
  • Work in school settings under the direction of experienced teachers in one of three divisions: primary-junior (JK-Grade 6), junior-intermediate (Grade 4-10) and intermediate-senior (Grade 7-12).

Primary-junior division

  • No teachable subjects to choose. However, applicants should have studied a wide range of subject areas, such as English, mathematics, Canadian geography/history, fine arts, child development and psychology, physical education and science.
  • Junior-intermediate division
  • Candidates choose one teachable subject. You must have at least six semester undergraduate courses (18 semester hours) in one teaching subject, with the exception of French and Music, which require additional courses (see website for details).

Intermediate-senior division

  • Candidates choose two teaching subjects. You must have at least 10 semester undergraduate courses (30 semester hours) in the first teachable subject and six semester undergraduate courses (18 semester hours) in the second teachable subject, with the exception of French and Music, which require additional courses. At least two of these courses must be at the second-year level or above.

Teachable subject areas:
Dramatic Art, English, French-Second Language, Geography, Health and Physical Education, History, Mathematics, Music (Instrumental and Vocal),
Religious Education, Science (General) and Visual Arts. In addition, Social Sciences-General, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Business Studies (General) are offered to intermediate-senior
candidates only.
