Governor General’s Gold Medal 2018-19 - call for nominations

We are pleased to announce the call for nominations of the 2018-19 Governor General’s Gold Medals.  These medals are awarded each year to the graduate students who have achieved the most outstanding record at the graduate level.

As a result of the increase in our graduate enrolment the University is able to award two gold medals.

Preference will be given to award one medal to a PhD student and one to a Master’s student, but the Graduate Awards Committee will make the final determination depending on the strength of nominations received.

Nominees must have completed all degree requirements within the 2018-19 academic year, i.e., students must have completed all of their degree requirements between May 12, 2018 and May 7, 2019.

Eligible students are therefore those who received their degree at the October 2018 or May 2019 convocation.

This award is open to full-time and part-time Canadian and International graduate students.

Master’s-only programs may nominate one (1) student  for these awards.

Programs that have both Master’s and PhD programs may nominate one (1) Master’s student, and one (1) PhD student.

A complete nomination consists of the following documentation:

  1. Departmental nomination form, completed and signed by the department head or graduate coordinator
  2. Letter of support from the student's supervisor
  3. Copy of the student's UWindsor transcript (UWinsite print-out is acceptable)
  4. Copy of the student's c.v.

The deadline for receipt of nominations in the Graduate Studies office is: Tuesday, August 6, 2019 by 4 p.m.
