Important Dates for Graduate Students

WINTER TERM 2017  (see also Summer term 2017 dates)

January 5

Winter term classes begin 

January 18

Last day for late registration

January 26

Last day to submit dissertations, theses and major papers to the Graduate Studies office for format checking for students who are planning to meet Phase I deadline (100% tuition) of the tuition fee refund policy for the Winter term 2017.

January 30

Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees under Phase I deadline (100% tuition) of the tuition fee refund policy for the Winter term 2017. Students who have completed all requirements (including deposit in the Office of Graduate Studies) for major papers, theses, and dissertations by this date are eligible for a 100% tuition refund for Winter 2017 term, provided that the student was registered in the previous term (Fall 2016) and that all other requirements for the degree are already complete. The grade will be assigned to the Fall 2016 term. 

February 16

Last day to submit dissertations, theses and major papers to the Graduate Studies office for format checking for students who are planning to meet Phase II deadline (50% tuition) of the tuition fee refund policy for Winter term 2017.

February 18-26

Family Day Holiday: University closed

February 21

Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees under Phase II deadline (50% tuition) of the tuition fee refund policy for the Winter term 2017. Students who have completed all requirements (including deposit in the Office of Graduate Studies) for major papers, theses, and dissertations by this date are eligible for a 50% tuition refund for Winter 2017 term, provided that the student was registered in the previous term (Fall 2016) and that all other requirements for the degree are already complete. The grade will be assigned to the Winter 2017 term.

Last day to file an application for Spring graduation

STUDENTS WHO APPLIED FOR FALL 2016 CONVOCATION BUT DID NOT GRADUATE MUST REAPPLY FOR SPRING 2017 CONVOCATION

March 15

Last day to voluntarily withdraw from Winter term courses. After this date students remain registered in courses and receive final grades as appropriate.

March 20

Deadline for recommending a PhD external examiner for students who plan to graduate at Spring Convocation.

April 7

Last day of classes

April 14

Good Friday – University closed.


SUMMER TERM 2017

May 8

Summer term begins 

May 8 

Last day for the final oral defense of dissertations, theses and major papers for Spring Convocation 2017

May 11

Last day to submit dissertations, theses and major papers to the Graduate Studies office for format checking for students who are planning to graduate at the Spring Convocation 

May 15

Last day to deposit dissertations, theses and major papers for Spring Convocation 2017

May 19

Last date for late registration for Summer term.

 May 26

Canada Day, University closed 

July 17

Last day to voluntarily withdraw from Summer term courses. After this date students remain registered in courses and receive final grades as appropriate.
