Deadlines for students who are planning to graduate at Spring Convocation 2017:

May 8 

Last day for the final oral defense of dissertations, theses and major papers for Spring Convocation 2017

May 11

Last day to submit dissertations, theses and major papers to the Graduate Studies office for format checking for students who are planning to graduate at the Spring Convocation 

May 15

Last day to deposit dissertations, theses and major papers for Spring Convocation 2017

May 30 – June 2

Spring Convocation 

Tuition Refund Deadlines:

May 25

Last day to submit dissertations, theses and major papers to the Graduate Studies office for format checking under the Phase I deadline (100% tuition) of the tuition fee refund policy for the Summer term 2017.

May 30: Phase I

Last day to deposit dissertations, theses and major papers under the Phase I deadline (100% tuition) of the tuition fee refund policy for the Summer term 2017. 

June 16

Last day to submit dissertations, theses and major papers to the Graduate Studies office for format checking for students who are planning to meet Phase II deadline (50% tuition) of the tuition fee refund policy for Summer term 2017.

 June 20: Phase II

Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees under Phase II deadline (50% tuition) of the tuition fee refund policy for Summer term 2017.

Victoria Day (Statutory Holiday), University Closed.

Canada Day, University closed 

July 17

Last day to voluntarily withdraw from Summer term courses. After this date students remain registered in courses and receive final grades as appropriate.

July 27

Deadline for recommending a PhD external examiner for students who plan to graduate at the Fall Convocation 

August 1

Last day to file application for Fall graduation.

STUDENTS WHO APPLIED FOR SPRING 2017 CONVOCATION BUT DID NOT GRADUATE MUST REAPPLY FOR FALL 2017 CONVOCATION 

August 7 

Civic Holiday (statutory holiday). University Closed 

August 8

Last day of classes 

August 15

Fall term fees are due and payable.


FALL TERM 2017

September 4

Labour Day (statutory holiday)

September 7

Fall term classes begin.

September 20

Last day for late registration (except Law).

September 21

Last day for the final oral defense of dissertations, theses and major papers for Fall Convocation.

September 25

Last day to submit dissertations, theses and major papers to the Graduate Studies office for format checking for students who are planning to meet Phase I deadline for Fall term 2017.

September 28: Phase I

Last day to deposit dissertations, theses and major papers in the Office of Graduate Studies (after being checked there for format) for Fall Convocation; and

Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees under Phase I registration (Fall term 2017) of the tuition fee refund policy. Students who have completed all requirements (including deposit in the Office of Graduate Studies) for major papers, theses, and dissertations by this date are eligible for a 100% tuition refund for Fall 2017 term, provided that the student was registered in the previous term (Summer 2017) and that all other requirements for the degree are already complete. The grade will be assigned to the Summer 2017 term. 

October 9

Thanksgiving Day (statutory holiday) (no classes, University closed).

October 7-15

Reading Week

October 14

Fall Convocation.

October 16: Phase II

Last day to submit dissertations, theses and major papers to the Graduate Studies office for format checking for students who are planning to meet Phase II deadline for Fall term 2017

October 19

Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees under Phase II registration (Fall term 2017) of the tuition fee refund policy. Students who have completed all requirements (including deposit in the Office of Graduate Studies) for major papers, theses, and dissertations by this date are eligible for a 50% tuition refund for Fall 2017 term, provided that the student was registered in the previous term (Summer 2017) and that all other requirements for the degree are already complete. The grade will be assigned to the Fall 2017 term.

November 15

Last day to voluntarily withdraw from Fall term courses. After this date students remain registered in courses and receive final grades as appropriate.

December 15

Winter term fees are due and payable.

Dec. 23, 2017- Jan. 2, 2018

University offices closed for Christmas recess.
