Tournament Opening Date: March 12, 2012
Location: Sunset Café, 484 Sunset Avenue, Windsor.
Time: 6 PM-7 PM, free snacks will be provided 

The GSS Action Chess tournament is back. This event is open to faculty, staff and graduate students. Fill out the form below and please e-mail it to Tareq (vpagss@uwindsor.ca) by Friday, March 09 at 3pm.  The champion will be awarded with the GSS Action Chess trophy.

Rules:

1. Each game will be a one hour action chess.

2. All the games will be played from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
3. Each win will earn 2 points whereas draw will earn 1 point.
4. Failure to show up on time will force the player to forfeit the game.
5. Under any circumstances, the decision of the committee is the final one.
6. Failure to finish the game within the time limit will be considered as a draw.
7. All games will be held at Sunset Cafe and players will be served with snacks.
8. During advancement to next round if two or more players have same point then total relative value of the pieces consumed so far will determine the winner.

The relative value of each chess piece is: 

• A pawn is worth 1
• A knight is worth 3
• A bishop is worth 3
• A rook is worth 5
• A queen is worth 9
• The king is infinitely valuable
